Bonjour!
I’m Jas, and welcome to Lively South.
Lively South is the place where my passions meet my home. As a Louisiana native, I have always been spellbound by the natural beauty and artistic history here. I have been an artist all my life, inspired by the cartoons I’d watch as a kid, as well as Tony from the Tony Chachere’s seasoning mix label.
What has always stood out to me the most about Louisiana is how wonderfully weird it is. Where else can you find tasty food, 6-foot-long reptiles, and tasty food made out of 6-foot-long reptiles? I won’t even mention the music, parties, costumes, and overall good vibes.
This state is also the melting pot of the melting pot; that spot in the gumbo that has just the right amount of every ingredient. It is the perfect bite of so many cultures who make this a place that they could live freely and celebrate what is important to them. I want to add my own art into this tradition, to honor the people who shaped this place before me.
I want to craft an image of Louisiana that we can all see ourselves in. A Louisiana that is all-accepting, inclusive, and celebrates every piece that makes this swamp magical to me.
